Nerlens Noel being Investigated - and what it might mean for the Harrisons' recruitment

We all knew ... it was just a matter of time.  And, that day has arrived. As Tark the Shark used to sarcastically call them, the "2A" has come sniffing around because of a strong possibility of impropriety surrounding a University of Kentucky recruit.

Pete Thamel of the NY Times reports that the NCAA is investigating the people in Nerlens Noel's inner circle, and some of the events that have occurred the past couple of years, including where air fares came from, the relationships between his "advisors," etc.

The bigger question for Terps fans is how does this impact the recruitment of the Harrison twins?  Aaron Harrison, Sr., has said that he strongly desires a family atmosphere for his sons.  However, another question arises - does Mr. Harrison wish for his sons to be around players that may be a bad influence on them and their future prospects in the NBA?  The "hangers-on" are everywhere for sure, but it just seems like UK attracts more than their fair share as the epicenter of a delusional fan base with a very delusional and skewed sense of entitlement.  I for one believe Coach Calipari's and UK's house of recruiting cards will eventually come tumbling down, as history tends to repeat itself.

  1. I think the 2A is just doing some due diligence on it. Late re-classification to the incoming class, a ton of unofficial visits before his re-classification was official, etc.

Although, Kentucky does like to draw a ton of attention to themselves with recruits, going to be interesting to see the outcome. I want to see Noel vs. Shaq in game 1, so I hope he doesn't miss that one.

    1. you KNOW I'm with you on this one...I'd rather Noel PLAY in game 1 so we don't have to hear #BBN excuses WHEN we get the W.

    2. It could be due diligence, but it amazes me how these "advisors" work their way into players' lives, and many times are up to no good except to help themselves.

    4. Completely agree, there is so much history on advisors screwing over recruits it completely amazes me how these kids even let themselves into the situation

  2. Well said George! Although Nerlens would not be there when the twins would (he's definitely 1 and done) I've always thought Papa Harrison has gone out of his way to shelter his boys from these types of "hangers on" as you so eloquently put it! We all seem to be in agreement that Shaq will NOT be even close to a 1 and done type of player, so maybe when Aaron jr says "Shaq is one of my best friends" we can take him at his word. I've always been in the "twins are coming to CP" camp and I'm not gonna back out of it until they sign somewhere else!

  3. So this is where all the cool kids are hanging out these days. Can I register directly with the sight, or do I have to go through Google+, LiveJournal, etc.?

    1. Think there is a link on the left side that says register on the main page. It's pretty simple. I'm thinking about charging $9.99 a month... What do you guys think. Hahaha Jp

  4. I'm back! Still no damn laptop and my boss sits right next to me in my new recruiting/sales/BD role but I'm gonna get back to this. Buying a laptop this weekend.

Anyway, I have been trying to retweet as much Noel noise as possible. I even included the twins on one. I wonder if they have heard the news yet.

Personally I hope Noel doesn't play. I'll trade our best player (stoglin) for theirs.
